The New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys play in 2 weeks. Who has the edge?
Posted by: | CommentsThis is the first real test for both the Patriots and the Cowboys.
Both teams have weak opponents next week, the Browns and the Bills. The game is in Dallas, but Dallas will be coming off a Monday night game.
So who has the edge in this superbowl preview game?
Some good answers.
I’ll admit I’m a Pats fan, but I’m trying to be objective. I give the Pats the edge, because if you look at the half-time scores of all the Cowboy and Patriots games so far, niether team has trailed at half-time. But, look at how many points they’ve been ahead at half for their first games.
Cowboys, 1,4,0,7
Patriots, 7,24,10,10
The Patriots have been more dominant in their games so far.
The Terrell Owens / Randy Moss comparison will be interesting!
I really think this is the superbowl preview game… I also think the Colts vs Pats game is your AFC Championship Game… But I think the AFC team always has an edge over those NFC teams… I think the Cowboys are the best team in the NFC and the Patriots are the best team in the AFC… But you gotta figure this If Randy Moss can’t be stopped, which we haven’t seen yet then this game might be over at halftime. I gotta give the edge to the Patriots (Brady and Moss,Welker) over The Cowboys ( Romo and Owens, Witten)… Close game but Patriots go in there and win… 24-17
Nfl – Cardinals are Considered the Underdog for the Super Bowl
Posted by: | CommentsThe surprising and just two-time NFL Champion, the Arizona Cardinals are considered for some as the underdog of this year’s Super Bowl XLIII, which will be played on February 1st at Tampa, Florida. The Arizona Cardinals finished the regular season with a decent but not surprising record of 9 victories and 7 loses, winning the West division title. However, after classifying to the playoffs of the NFL, many expected them to lose in the first round against the Atlanta Falcons, but things didn’t happen the way people thought and the Cardinals defeated the Falcons in great way with a score of 30-24.
Even so, with people still not believing in the Cardinals game, they projected again that the Carolina Panthers in the following game would disqualify the team. Nevertheless, the Cardinals surprised everyone again by beating the Panthers with a shocking score of 33-13 at their favor. Getting into the NFC Championship, the Arizona Cardinals were considered once again the underdogs of the game but they proved them wrong once more with a great offense and teamwork. The Cardinals obtained the NFC title and the place in the Super Bowl XLIII by defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 32-25. This NFC title was their first conference championship and also their first chance to get to the Super Bowl since its creation.
The coach of the Cardinals Ken Whisenhunt has become a supporter and an encourage man for his team and even knowing his team has been considered the underdog through all the playoffs, he has focused his team on the importance of teamwork, unity and the non-respect theme when they are playing an important opponent. As well, Whisenhunt has pushed his team harder in practice to keep them motivated for was its coming in the Super Bowl against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
On the other hand, the coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers Mike Tomlin, expressed that even though his team is considered the favorite to win the Super Bowl XLIII, he believes the Cardinals is a dangerous opponent and a good team individually and collectively; for him is going to be a battle and a exciting game.
For the left guard of the Cardinals Reggie Wells, he believes his team is as good as his opponent and that his team can do great things at the Super Bowl game with their unconventional offense. “You throw on tape of other units and you throw on tape of us and we have just as much talent as anybody else in the league,” stated Wells. “But people don’t see that because we don’t have the conventional ‘run the football’ offense that other teams do so you don’t get the credit.”
Anyhow, with the great defense of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the great offense of the Arizona Cardinals it will be tough to compare and match the Super Bowl since both teams are better in some areas of the game. The sure thing is that it will be very interesting to see what happens during this big game. Many people expect the Steelers to win the game due to their experience and the 5 Super Bowl titles under their belt; however the Cardinals have surprised everyone with their last results and have demonstrated that they have a good crew.
Whatever happens, we hope to observe great football and be witness of what the Super Bowl XLIII has for all the NFL football fans in 10 days.

Where’s the Beef? a Comparison of Two Texas Ranches
Posted by: | Comments
Amarillo once known as the “Helium Capital of the World”, is now known as one of the largest beef marketing cities in the US. Americans eat millions of burgers each year and the majority of the beef comes from Texas. Think we just found out why Men’s Fitness selected Dallas as one of America’s “Fattest States”. The folks of Amarillo love their beef and they hold two of the largest ranches in the U.S., both past and present. Whether it be one of the best know ranches in it’s heyday, The XIT Ranch or the John Adair Ranch, better known as the JA Ranch, cattle market is and has been a staple of Amarillo Texas for years.
Although its doors may be closed, the XIT Ranch played a great part in the development of Amarillo as a player in the cattle industry. Closing it’s gates in 1912, it was known as the largest ranch to be fenced in at it’s time of operation with approximately 3,000,000 acres in length. The ranch, originated in 1885, was home to over 150,000 roaming livestock, 325 windmills turning strong across its streams. Poor sales and the destruction of cattle by livestock thieves and outside wild caused the ranch’s demise.
The ranch is immortalized today by a museum in Dalhart, known simply as XIT museum. Although not in Amarillo it captures the essence of the ranch telling it’s history through artifacts, photographs and other souvenirs. Here one can learn the misconception of the XIT brand. A brand that for year’s people thought it stood for “Ten in Texas”, marking the ten countries the ranch identified with. In fact it was just a name given by disgruntled cattle robbers, perhaps stalking the Amarillo ranch.
The JA Ranch established by John George Adair and Charles Goodnight in the 1800’s is still up and running today. Numerous managers have run it over the years, but all are descendants of the Adair’s. Adair’s wife Cornelia took over the reins for a bit after her husband’s death. She then turned the management over to her son and others have followed as well. One of the best-known managers may have been Montie Ritchie; he worked the ranch until he retired in 1993.
The ranch has definitely left its mark on Amarillo, Texas and has become known in the city for its landmarks. Some that stand out are the old milk house and the oat bin, not to forget the “Big House”, which is nationally recognized. In the 90’s it held larger and stronger animals and became fenced in.
Both ranches are rich in Amarillo lore and may have contributed to the title of “Beef City”, a common name given by Amarillo folk. A name maybe only recognized by the locals, but there is no doubt that Amarillo is the one of the largest meat packing areas in the United States. So, next time you bite into a steak or burger remember the history or tradition that may have gone into it.

4 Enormous Seasons for the New York Giants and the Big Apple
Posted by: | Comments
For over 80 years, the New York Giants have represented the Big Apple, in a big way. Since 1925, the team has played in five stadiums, won three Super Bowls, had 27 pro football Hall of Famers, and retired 11 players’ jersey numbers. There have been several memorable moments in over eight decades of Giants history. While it is quite difficult to define ONE as most memorable, several of them are certainly noteworthy:
1. 1925 Season
According to reliable sources, Tim Mara bought the Giants for $500. Mara was a businessperson and promoter. At the time, the NFL (and subsequently the Giants themselves) was struggling. However, the Giants encountered a huge turning point during their first season. On December 11th, the Giants faced the Chicago Bears. Roughly 70,000 fans watched the game live! The Giants would split a two-game series with the Bears, ending the season with a record of 8-4.
2. 1986 Season
During the previous season, the Giants had lost to the Chicago Bears (21-0) in the NFC championship game. This season, they were ready to stomp the competition! The Giants completed the regular season with an outstanding 14-2 record. In the playoffs, they demolished the San Francisco 49ers (49-3), and then blanked the Washington Redskins (17-0). In Super Bowl XXI, the Giants nearly doubled the Denver Broncos score (39-20). Coach Bill Parcells’ “Gatorade Bath” completed the Giants’ larger-than-life season.
3. 1990 Season
The Giants played yet another solid season, ending with a 13-3 record. After losing their starting quarterback, Phil Simms, everyone wondered how deep the Giants would proceed in the playoffs. Quarterback Jeff Hostetler answered. The Giants demolished the Chicago Bears (31-3), and then edged the San Francisco 49ers (15-13), after adding Joe Montana to their list of Quarterback casualties. Super Bowl XXV was another tight game, with the Giants sneaking past the Buffalo Bills (20-19).
4. 2007 Season
While the Giants started on rocky ground, they soldiered out the season, ending with a 10-6 record. In the playoffs, the Giants sank the Tampa Bay Bucs (24-14), defeated the Dallas Cowboys on an endzone interception in the final play of the game (21-17), and then edged the Green Bay Packers in OT (23-20). In Super Bowl XLII, the Giants faced the New England Patriots, who were attempting to complete a perfect season-literally. Tom Brady and the Patriots had become renowned for winning close games in the Super Bowl. However, it was the Giants’ QB, Eli Manning, who delivered on his team’s last drive of the game. Scoring with 39 ticks on the clock, the Giants won their third Super Bowl trophy. The 1972 Miami Dolphins remained the only unbeaten team in the history of the NFL.
The New York Giants have had enormous seasons throughout their history. Certainly, their Super Bowl victories have been in some of their most memorable seasons. Giants fans hope that their favorite NFL team will earn more NFL championships. Use New York Giants merchandise to cheer on the team to another gargantuan season!
